Fund raising project organised by Rotary Club Willemstad. Several artists were asked to decorate a life-size polyester goat. 'Dora dora' was created together with Marcel van Duijneveldt.
'Gilded Dora proudly looks around, ignoring the fact that she’s standing hoof-deep in her own excrements. She is adorned with golden sunglasses, a 'bling-bling' chain and ditto earrings. On her behind a tattoo of a heart with the word: Korsou.
Behold the impersonification of our beloved "dushi" Curaçao. Eventhough we stand ankle deep in our own excrements we just apply a layer of gold plating to cover it all and hold on to our pride at any cost.'
Exhibition 'Resusita': '140 years after the abolition of slavery. In the year 2003, the wounds caused by slavery still had not healed. Still the scars were visible and painful ....
.... For many years these scars had hampered the mental and spiritual development of our people. The time had come to heal the wound caused by slavery'.
